Goals:

• Create the next evolution of the Donation Point Tap device

• Create a simple, easy-to-use device that would encourage and enable customers to make digital donations to charities

• To make the terminal portable so that it could be placed in high-traffic areas and used in more scenarios

• Design efficiently, in an effort to re-use high volume parts (display, PCB, battery, plus smaller internal parts) from our flagship QT850 Terminal

Design Features:

• The terminal is a compact, portable device with a 3.5" colour touchscreen display

• Accepts contactless payments from EFTPOS debit, VISA and MasterCard

• Supports NFC-enabled mobile devices, such as smartphones and smart watches

• The terminal is easy to set up and use, with 4G communications

• The terminal contains a rechargeable lithium-ion battery and has a range of accessories to suit multiple donation points

A selection of tasks I completed during this project were:

• 3D CAD detailing (Solidworks) and visualisation (Keyshot)

• Prototype models (3D Print, SLA, CNC) for form and function assessment

• Supplier sourcing, negotiation and BOM management

• Product DFM, 2D documentation, Tooling design reviews, OTS reviews

• Assembly sequencing and time studies, QC documentation and assessments, improvement reports

• Packaging design
